Day Three – Tracking

Going off track is something we all do every now and then, but it doesn’t have to spoil your day, your week, or even your year. It’s just a blip. It happens. There’s a lot to be said for forgiving yourself.

So let’s start with your most powerful weapon in your armoury. And it might not be what you think.

It’s a pencil.

What I’d like you to start doing is to write down everything you eat and drink during the day. There are so many different ways to track so just find the one that works for you. A notebook is great, or if you’re following one of the two Beachbody standalone programmes, you can track in the app.

Tools like My Fitness Pal can be handy too, but don’t get hung up on the numbers in there because a lot of the data is added by members and there’s a lot of inaccuracy. And I have a hard time working out how it calculates your calorie requirements because it gave me the same calories allowance in a day as a friend of mine who has 15 stone to lose!

So track everything, and if you don’t have a notebook with you, snap a quick picture on your phone so you can write it down at the end of the day. The goal here is not to make changes for now, it’s just to get used to tracking so that you become aware of what you’re consuming.
